How Apprendo uses AI
Apprendo turns recorded conversations into searchable content, written posts, and edited videos. To do that, we send specific pieces of your text and audio to three external AI providers. This page lists every one and what each receives.
How your data flows
- You record or upload a video. The file stays on Apprendo's infrastructure.
- Audio is sent to AssemblyAI for transcription. The text comes back; the audio is not retained for training.
- When you search your library, generate a post, or chat with Momento, only the specific transcript snippets needed for that task are sent to Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (GPT). Your full library is never sent in bulk.
- Responses are returned to you. Providers do not use your inputs to train their models and delete API data within 30 days under their published policies.

Anthropic
Claude API
- Used for
- Post generation, speaker tone analysis, the Momento assistant, and content metadata.
- What we send
- Only the transcript snippets and prompts needed for each request. Never raw audio or video files.
- Retention & training
- Per Anthropic's Commercial Terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train Claude. Data is retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and then deleted.
OpenAI
GPT models
- Used for
- Routing requests inside the Momento assistant, interpreting natural-language search queries, and conversational responses.
- What we send
- Only the transcript snippets and search queries needed for each request. Never raw audio or video files.
- Retention & training
- Per OpenAI's API Data Usage Policy, API inputs and outputs are not used to train OpenAI models. Data is retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and then deleted.
AssemblyAI
Speech-to-text and speaker diarization
- Used for
- Turning recorded audio into transcript text, identifying who spoke when, and producing word-level timestamps.
- What we send
- Audio extracted from your recordings or uploaded video files. AssemblyAI returns the transcript text and timestamps to us.
- Retention & training
- Per AssemblyAI's policy, customer audio is not used to train their models and is processed under their data-handling commitments.
What you control
- Delete a recording, transcript, or post anytime — it's removed from Apprendo and from provider systems under our data-processing agreements.
- Your content is never used to train AI models — ours or our providers'.
